Summer Motorcycle Gloves

Summer motorcycle gloves aim to let air flow across your hand without stripping away the protection it needs if you end up on the ground. This section covers men's, women's and unisex gloves from two brands: Rainers, with the Vento, Road, Dinamik or G-28, and By City, with the Texas, Pilot II, Second Skin or Tokio.

Where the air gets in

• Perforated leather: keeps the abrasion resistance of leather and lets air in through tiny holes across the back and fingers.
• Mesh or thin textile panels on the back and between the fingers: the coolest option, at the cost of covering less of the hand with tough material.
• Vents in the knuckle protector, which push air in while you ride right where your hand sweats most.

Certified in summer too

A lightweight glove can still be certified. Look on the product page for the EN 13594 standard and some knuckle protection, even if it is slimmer than on a winter glove: in summer you ride more miles in fewer layers, and your hands are still the first to reach the tarmac. Our motorcycle gloves guide explains how to read that label.

Sweat, grip and colour

In the heat your hand sweats and the glove tends to shift, so a firm wrist closure matters more than it seems. Pale shades, like the yellow or grey of several By City models, absorb less heat in the sun than black does. You will find specific cuts in the men's summer gloves and women's summer gloves, and if you want something lighter still, with your wrist in the open air, look at the short cuff gloves.
