Should I buy adhesive tire strips?

Tire strips are a perfect complement to your bike, as it gives visibility and aesthetics at the same time. However, there is a series of frequent questions that hinder us from making the choise to buy them. Here we have listed the most common to help you make the right decision:

What do I have to take into account before gluing them?

It is very important to clean thoroughly the area before sticking the strips. There should not be any kind of residue, as this will cause them to detach more easily. You should also take into account the size of the tires and check that the roll you have bought or want to buy is going to be long enough to cover both sides of each tire. We recommend taking an extra roll to have margin in case of mistake.

Will I know how to install them?

There are several types of strips, those that come rolled and must be placed along the end of the rim and those that come in two pieces for each side of rim, and with the curved shape of the rim itself. These last ones do not have any complication, you just have to be a little careful when placing them, checking that they fit around the perimeter of the rim before sticking them completely. In the first case, the rolled strips are more tricky. Being straight strips, they must be curbed as we stick them on the profile. To make this job easier, applicators are offered, those are plastic pieces that fit the edge of the rim and allow the strip to be placed perfectly without previous experience.

Are they reflective?

It depends on the chosen strip. There are some that are reflective and others that are simply fluorescent or colored without reflecting light. In the tab of each product you can see if it is or not reflective.

What are the differences between cheap strips and more expensive strips?

The difference is in the durability of those strips. For example, Puig tire strips are made of an adhesive metal sheet that gives incredible strength over the years.
