What an adapter does and why it is sold separately

Puig designs each footpeg, from the Racing to the Trail 2.0, just once and fits it to hundreds of bikes through different adapters. That means you can pick the peg you like and, if you change bikes, keep it and buy only the new adapter. Many part numbers cover several models from the same manufacturer, because makers such as Honda, Kawasaki or BMW reuse the same type of mount on very different bikes; the product name sums up the list and the product page gives the full detail with years.

Fixed or adjustable: when it is worth moving the peg

A fixed adapter keeps the peg where the original was and is the choice if your riding position already feels right. An adjustable one, used with its offset plate, lets you move it:

• Further back and higher: more ground clearance and your body tipped further over the tank, as on a sports bike or for track days.
• Lower or further forward: less bend at the knee, handy for long legs or for touring.
• On the pillion side, the 40 mm offset lowers or moves the peg forward and makes long trips easier for your passenger.

How to find yours

1. Choose the peg first, among the Puig footrests or in the general motorcycle footpegs section.
2. Decide the side: rider, pillion or both, as each takes its own adapter.
3. Check your bike, version and years on the adapter's product page: within one model family, a new generation can change the mount.
4. If it is adjustable, add the offset plate in the size you want.

Once it is fitted

Shift the rider's peg and your foot ends up in a different place relative to the gear selector and the rear brake. Before setting off, sit on the bike in your boots and check you can reach both without straining your ankle; on many bikes the gear linkage can be adjusted to reposition the lever. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque and recheck them once you have ridden a short distance.
