Ironhead

Ironhead exhausts are IXIL's silencers for custom bikes and modern classics: Harley-Davidson, Indian, Victory, BMW R 18, Triumph Bonneville, Moto Guzzi V7 or Royal Enfield. Each part number is made for a specific model and year range, and many come in several finishes, black, chrome or steel, so the exhaust matches the rest of the bike.

Two families: HC for customs and OVC for modern classics

Each exhaust name starts with the family and usually ends with the finish letter: B for black and C for chrome. The product page shows the colour of each one.

• HC1: silencers for the 2004-2016 Sportster XL 883 and 1200, Dyna Street Bob, Softail Breakout, Deluxe and Slim, Indian Scout and Scout Bobber, Victory Vegas and Hammer, Triumph Bobber and Speedmaster, plus the Honda CB 1100 EX and RS and the Benelli Imperiale 400.
• HC2: for the big tourers, such as the Road King, the Indian Chief, Chieftain, Roadmaster and Springfield or the BMW R 18 in chrome, and for the Sportster S 1250, Nightster 975, Street 500 and 750 and Royal Enfield Bullet.
• OVC: the modern classic family, for the Triumph Bonneville T100 and T120, Thruxton, Street Twin and Speed Twin, Moto Guzzi V7, Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650, Honda GB 350 S and Brixton Crossfire 500 X.

Not to be confused with the Ironhead engine

Ironhead is also the nickname of the engine fitted to Sportsters from 1957 to 1985, and many searches for an "Ironhead exhaust" come from owners of those bikes. IXIL's Ironhead exhausts are not made for them: the oldest Sportsters they cover are 2004 models, already running the Evolution engine.

What to check before ordering

• Exact model and years: Sportsters have different part numbers for 2004-2013 and 2014-2016, and the Road King for 2006-2016 and 2017-2021.
• Road approval: check it on the product page for your bike, especially if it has an inspection coming up.
• Sound: on a custom twin, the silencer changes the character a lot at idle and low revs; the baffle keeps it within what the approval allows.

Ironhead comes from IXIL, which sells its naked, sports and adventure lines under its own name. To complete a custom build, Customacces offers saddlebags, screens and other accessories in that style, and our custom motorcycle helmets include matching open-face and retro lids.
