Puig Grips

Puig grips change the feel and look of your handlebar with very little work: there are plain rubber grips, grips with anodised aluminium inserts in several colours and heated grips for winter. All of them fit 22 mm bars and differ in design, material and length, which is the thing most worth checking before you choose.

Which line suits what you are after

• A stock-like feel: the Basic grips, in textured rubber, come in soft, medium and hard compounds. Soft ones are more comfortable but wear faster; if in doubt, medium is the sensible middle ground.
• Colour without going over the top: the Ascent grips combine non-slip rubber and anodised aluminium and include adapters for the throttle tube. The Core grips, in soft TPE, mix two colours and two textures, worth considering if you ride long distances.
• A race look: the Racing grips have an anodised aluminium insert in the body, the Radikal a more aggressive one, and the Revving combine rubber and aluminium with a bold pattern.

There are colours to suit almost any bike: black, silver, gold, blue, red, green, orange, lilac and titanium, plus yellow and grey on the Core and carbon look on one Radikal.

119, 121 or 123 mm: measure yours

The usual length is 119 mm, shared by the Basic, the heated grips and the standard Ascent and Radikal versions. The Core grips measure 121 mm, and the Ascent, Radikal, Racing and Revving also come in a 123 mm version. Compare it with your current grips; how to measure, what changes with a ride-by-wire throttle and how to fit them without surprises are covered in our general motorcycle grips section, which also has Rizoma and Customacces grips. On the Racing and Radikal, Puig notes that you may need to file down the edges of the throttle tube and fix the grip with a sealing adhesive.

Heated grips for winter

Puig offers two sets of heated grips in black, supplied with the wiring and instructions to connect them to the bike. On the 2.0 version the thermostat is built into the grip itself, with no box on the bars, and a single button selects between four heat levels, even with gloves on. Both are designed for cable-operated throttles.

For a matching cockpit, Puig bar ends and Puig levers come in the same colours. And for the rest of the brand, head to Puig.
