Highsider Levers

Highsider levers are aluminium brake and clutch levers in black, silver and polished aluminium, to replace one bent or broken in a fall or to change the look of the controls. They fall into two groups: OEM-style levers and universal ones.

OEM-style or universal

The OEM-style levers, from the smart range, reproduce the shape and dimensions of the stock lever, so they drop into its perch without any modification. There are single left-hand levers, pairs and complete clutch lever assemblies in black or polished aluminium. The universal ones, by contrast, copy no particular bike: they are sold as right, left or a pair, and you need to check that their pivot and the point where they push the pump or pull the cable match those on your bike.

What to check before ordering

• Side: on most bikes the right lever works the front brake and the left one the clutch, but on a scooter both can be brake levers.
• Type of control: cable or hydraulic clutch, and the brake master cylinder. The lever has to suit the piston or the cable stop.
• Switches: if the brake light or clutch contact is pressed by the lever, the new one must reach it.

When only the lever has broken

In a low-speed fall it is usually the tip that snaps while the perch stays sound. Replacing just the lever puts the cockpit back as it was without touching the master cylinder. If what you need is help choosing shape, length and adjustment, our guide to motorcycle levers covers it in detail; and if you are refreshing the whole front end, the Highsider mirrors come in black, matt black and chrome finishes to match.
