Motorcycle oil filler caps

Your bike's oil filler cap, the one that closes the opening where you top up the engine oil, is more visible than you might think, especially on nakeds and neo-retros. Swapping the stock cap for an anodised aluminium one adds a touch of colour to the engine, and it is one of the few accessories you can fit in a moment. Here you will find caps from Puig and Rizoma.

Puig or Rizoma

• Puig oil filler caps make up most of the range and come in two designs, Track and Hi-Tech, in a wide choice of colours: black, silver, gold, red, blue, green, orange, lilac and titanium, to match other anodised parts on the bike.
• Rizoma caps are machined from aluminium and more understated, in silver, black and red or blue, with the thread size in the product name itself.

How to tell if it fits

If there is a part number for your make or model (Triumph Speed Twin and Street Twin, Kawasaki, Yamaha, BMW, Aprilia, KTM or Husqvarna, among others), that is the safe bet. Universal caps are chosen by thread, and there are several sizes: check the one on your current cap and compare it with the product page before ordering. Look at the space around the opening too, as a cap that is taller or wider than stock can touch a cover or a cable.

Filler is not drain

This section only has filler caps, the ones you remove to add oil. The drain plug, at the bottom of the crankcase, is a different part with its own washer and torque setting. And if you ride on track, bear in mind that many rulebooks require oil caps to be lockwired.

To keep dressing up the engine, take a look at our clutch covers; the rest of the mechanical parts are under motorcycle engine and spare parts.
