Handlebar Locks

A handlebar lock stays fitted to your scooter or motorbike: when you park, you lock the steering in a couple of seconds, without digging anything out of the top box or crouching by the wheel. It suits anyone who rides a scooter every day and parks several times in the same day, and most of what you will see here is designed for exactly that.

Three systems in this section

• Artago Practic: from the Valencia-based brand, made to fit each model in three versions, ART, STYLE and ALARM, the last with a built-in alarm. They cover hundreds of scooters from Kymco, SYM, Honda, Piaggio or Yamaha, plus electric models such as NIU, Yadea or Segway.
• Urban Practic MP: the same fitted-lock idea, also specific to each scooter.
• SHAD: Series 2 and Series 3 handlebar locks in sizes 3, 5 and 7, that is 38, 44 and 49 cm, which close onto a mount made for each bike.

Getting the right one

Look for your model with its years and version: a new generation or the arrival of Euro 5 rules often brings changes to the front end, which is why the same scooter, such as the Beverly or the XMAX, has different part numbers depending on the year. And if you want noise on top of the physical lock, Artago's ALARM version adds a siren to the same system.

Bear its limits in mind: it stops the scooter being wheeled away, but not two people lifting it. For a night on the street, add a disc lock or a chain, as we explain under anti-theft for motorbikes. To see everything from one brand, there are pages for Artago, Urban and SHAD.
