MIVV Decat Pipes

MIVV decat pipes, also known as cat-delete or no-cat pipes, are stainless steel sections that take the place of the part of the exhaust where the catalyst sits. They are made for track days and racing: without its catalyst the bike is no longer the one that was type-approved, which is why they have no place on the public road.

What changes once it is fitted

The gases leave with less restriction, the engine responds more directly and the sound is sportier. On a fuel-injected bike the ECU may need adjusting so it runs properly without the catalyst. Keep the original section as well: it is the one that has to go back on the bike before it returns to the road.

Finding the right one for your bike

Each decat pipe is made for one bike and a range of years, and depending on the part number it works with a MIVV silencer or with the stock system. The first block of the part number identifies the model and matches the MIVV silencers for that bike: the H.085 of the Honda CB750 Hornet is the same as on its Delta Race. If there is both a C1 and a C2 for the same base, compare their product pages.

If the bike is going on the road

In that case the catalyst stays where it is. To change the sound within the rules, there are silencers approved for your version (the product page says so), and MIVV also makes its own catalysts as a separate part. You will find the general rules on approval and roadworthiness on the motorcycle exhausts page, and the other ranges under MIVV.
