Accessories for the Aprilia Atlantic 500

The Aprilia Atlantic 500 is a scooter suited to getting around town as well as covering longer journeys on the road. Those two settings place different demands on a ride. Stop-start traffic draws attention to braking, while time spent on faster roads makes wind exposure more noticeable. The accessories shown here for the 2002–2004 Atlantic 500 focus on those practical aspects of using this scooter, rather than on additions that have little bearing on your journeys.

What riders usually fit to the Aprilia Atlantic 500

Think about the part of your route that shapes the ride most. A journey through busy streets calls for a different emphasis from one that includes a long stretch of open road.

• Brakes: riding an Atlantic 500 across town often means slowing for junctions, traffic lights and pedestrians before picking up pace again. Brake-related accessories are therefore relevant to the repeated changes of speed that come with everyday urban use. They also matter when your route takes you beyond the city and you need to slow for an exit or an approaching bend. How often you ride in each setting helps put this category in context.
• Windscreens: on a scooter, wind can become a more persistent part of the journey once you leave the slower streets behind. A windscreen is worth considering for an Atlantic 500 used on ring roads or longer road trips, where the time spent facing the airflow can affect comfort. For riders whose journeys mix town and faster sections, this is an accessory aimed at the part of the trip where exposure is most noticeable.

For this model, the decision comes down to how you actually use it: frequent stops, sustained road riding or a mixture of both. That gives you a useful starting point for choosing between brake-related accessories and a windscreen for your Atlantic 500.
