Accessories for the BMW F 800 S

The BMW F 800 S brings a sporting approach to road riding without being limited to weekend outings. It can serve as a weekday commuter, a companion on winding roads or a bike for longer trips. Those different uses shape which accessories make sense: wind protection matters on sustained road journeys, while protection and comfortable controls deserve attention when everyday traffic is part of the routine.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 800 S

• Screens: worth considering when a favourite twisty route involves motorway miles to get there. A screen helps divert airflow, but its height and shape need to suit the way you sit on the F 800 S, rather than simply matching its sporty appearance.
• Protectors, crash bungs and crash bars: intended to help limit damage in a fall. For an F 800 S used throughout the working week, parking spaces, garage manoeuvres and low-speed turns are just as relevant as open-road riding when considering protection.
• Levers: your direct connection to the brake and clutch deserves attention on a bike that mixes commuting with spirited road rides. Repeated clutch use in traffic puts the emphasis on hand comfort, rather than treating replacement levers as a purely cosmetic change.
• Number plate holders: an option for riders who want to emphasise the sporting look of the rear end. On the F 800 S, this is primarily a styling choice, separate from changes aimed at making longer journeys more comfortable.
• Mirrors: particularly relevant when weekday urban journeys sit alongside weekend rides. The useful view is the one you get from your normal riding position, so keeping track of following traffic should come before choosing a mirror for its sporty shape alone.

For a mix of commuting and longer rides, address airflow and comfort at the controls first. Styling changes can then complement the practical setup rather than take priority over it.
