Accessories for the BMW F 800 GS Adventure

The BMW F 800 GS Adventure is an adventure bike suited to long journeys that mix road miles with stretches of trail. Luggage, protection and comfort over distance are therefore natural priorities when fitting accessories. The right setup depends on whether you travel solo or with a pillion, how much you carry and how often your routes take you away from the tarmac.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 800 GS Adventure

• Protectors: Manoeuvring a loaded bike and negotiating uneven trails both bring the possibility of low-speed falls or knocks. Protectors help shield exposed areas, making them particularly relevant when a touring route includes more than smooth roads and straightforward parking stops.
• Panniers: Multi-day trips call for somewhere to organise clothing and other essentials without using the pillion seat as a luggage platform. For two-up touring, keeping luggage separate from the seating area makes panniers an especially useful addition.
• Screens: Long motorway sections put wind protection higher on the list than it might be for short local rides. A screen helps reduce exposure while seated, with its height and shape influencing airflow around your upper body and helmet.
• Footpegs: Boot support matters when switching from seated road riding to standing on uneven tracks. Footpegs play an important role in that riding position, particularly on trips where you regularly move around on the bike as the terrain changes.
• Phone mounts: Keeping navigation directions in view is useful when linking unfamiliar back roads or finding your way through a touring itinerary. Mount placement should leave the instruments visible and avoid getting in the way when you stand for trail sections.

For mostly road-based touring, start by considering a screen and panniers. If trails feature regularly in your plans, give protectors and footpegs more weight in your setup.
