Accessories for the BMW F 850 GS

The BMW F 850 GS is an adventure bike used for road touring and exploring unpaved tracks. That mix puts luggage, protection and rider comfort ahead of purely cosmetic changes. The right setup depends on how you divide your riding between tarmac and trails, how long you spend away and whether a pillion comes along.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 850 GS

• Luggage cases: give you somewhere to carry clothing and touring essentials without wearing a rucksack all day. For longer trips on the F 850 GS, organised luggage becomes particularly useful with a pillion, when two people need to share the available carrying space.
• Protectors and crash bars: are worth considering when your routes include tracks, where a low-speed tumble can leave the bike resting on the ground. Different pieces protect different areas, so focus on protection that makes sense for the terrain you regularly tackle.
• Screens: help reduce wind pressure on your upper body during long road sections. On a touring-focused F 850 GS, screen coverage needs to work with your height and riding position; a taller screen does not automatically put the airflow where you want it.
• Footrests: support your feet whether you are seated on the road or standing on a track. If you regularly switch between those positions, the platform and foot position deserve attention, particularly when a day's riding combines long distances with unpaved sections.
• Phone mounts: keep navigation near the riding position when you explore unfamiliar back roads. They also save you repeatedly unpacking your phone at stops to check the next part of a touring route or a weekend itinerary.

Choosing parts for the 2018-2022 and 2023 versions

The BMW F 850 GS has changed over the years, with the 2018-2022 and 2023 versions distinguished here. Parts are not necessarily interchangeable between them. Choose your bike's year on this page to see only accessories that fit yours, rather than assuming one part will suit every year.
