Accessories for the BMW F 850 GS Adventure

Long road days, winding back roads and unpaved tracks all suit the BMW F 850 GS Adventure. As an adventure touring bike, it benefits from accessories that address luggage, wind exposure and the demands of mixed-surface riding. The priorities depend on how you travel: a two-up holiday puts different demands on the bike from a solo trip with regular stretches ridden standing on the pegs.

What riders usually fit to the BMW F 850 GS Adventure

• Panniers: carrying clothing and overnight essentials away from the pillion seat makes sense on a bike used for extended trips. For two-up touring, dedicated luggage space keeps the passenger area available rather than turning it into somewhere to strap bags.
• Protection: worth prioritising when your route leaves the tarmac, where low-speed falls are a practical concern. Protective accessories help shield the areas they cover, giving them a clear purpose on an Adventure used for more than road touring, without eliminating the risk of damage.
• Screens: help manage airflow during motorway links and long days in the saddle. For road-heavy trips on the F 850 GS Adventure, consider coverage alongside your height and seated riding position rather than assuming a taller screen will always suit you.
• Footrests: provide the contact point you rely on when switching from seated road riding to standing on tracks. Their shape and surface matter for support with adventure boots, particularly when rougher sections call for frequent changes in body position.
• Phone mounts: keep navigation directions within view when linking mountain roads, villages and overnight stops. On mixed-surface journeys, positioning matters: the phone should not obstruct the controls or get in your way as you move between sitting and standing.

Build your setup around the riding that takes up most of the trip. Road comfort and passenger luggage deserve priority on touring holidays; protection and standing support matter more on track-focused routes.
