Accessories for the BMW G650 X-Country

The BMW G650 X-Country has a scrambler character that suits everyday journeys, back roads and the occasional easy trail. Those different rides put different demands on the bike. Wind protection becomes more noticeable on a longer road trip, while protective parts may matter more when your route includes unsurfaced sections. Choosing what to fit starts with thinking about where you actually spend your time riding.

What riders usually fit to the BMW G650 X-Country

The useful additions are not all aimed at the same kind of journey. These are the types worth considering for a bike that moves between town, country roads and gentle trails:

• Screens: take some of the wind pressure off your upper body when a short ride turns into a longer stretch of open road. A Puig screen is one option for riders who regularly take the X-Country beyond town.
• Mirrors: let you adapt the rearward view to your riding position. That can be particularly useful when your day includes filtering through traffic as well as keeping an eye on vehicles behind you on faster roads.
• Protective parts: help shield exposed areas during slow manoeuvres or rides along easy trails. They make sense if your routes vary, even when most of your mileage is on tarmac.
• Stands and side stands: can make maintenance tasks easier and help when parking during a ride with stops on different surfaces. They are worth thinking about if your outings rarely follow the same routine.
• Handlebars: affect one of the main points of contact with the bike. Your riding position matters more as you move from short commutes to full days exploring quieter roads.

There is no need to set the bike up for a journey you never make. Think about whether your riding calls more often for relief from the wind, protection on mixed routes or a riding position that feels right over longer distances.
