Accessories for the BMW G 650 GS

Commuting during the week and exploring quieter roads at the weekend suit the BMW G 650 GS well. This trail bike also lends itself to easy tracks, so useful accessories go beyond appearance. Wind protection matters on longer road journeys, luggage makes overnight trips more practical, and your riding position deserves attention if you regularly switch between tarmac and unpaved routes.

What riders usually fit to the BMW G 650 GS

• Screens: worth considering when your route includes motorway stretches or long days on open roads. A screen helps divert airflow away from your body, with its height and shape affecting the shelter you get in your normal seated position.
• Protection: a sensible priority for a G 650 GS used on both streets and tracks. Protective parts help shield vulnerable areas from knocks, particularly where loose ground or an awkward stop could lead to a low-speed drop.
• Luggage: useful for carrying work essentials without a rucksack, as well as packing for a weekend away. Think about whether your G 650 GS mainly handles urban journeys, solo touring or trips with a pillion when planning carrying space.
• Footpegs: foot support becomes especially relevant when you move from sitting on the road to standing on an easy trail. The platform and peg position influence how you support yourself and move around on the bike during mixed-surface rides.
• Handlebars: your hand position needs to work for seated road miles and standing on unpaved sections. On a bike used for both, bar position affects your reach to the controls as well as comfort during slow urban manoeuvres.

Consider handlebars and footpegs together rather than treating each as an isolated change to your riding position. If you tour with a pillion, allow for their seating space when planning how to carry your luggage.
