Accessories for the BMW K1200 GT

The BMW K1200 GT is a touring bike made for covering distance on the road while still enjoying a flowing ride. When you spend hours in the saddle, the details that matter are not limited to the ride itself: parking, looking after the bike and the position of your hands all play a part. That makes protection and practical day-to-day additions worth considering alongside changes to its sound and appearance.

What riders usually fit to the BMW K1200 GT

• Protectors: useful for looking after exposed areas when a bike used for long journeys also has to negotiate car parks, stops and everyday manoeuvres. They make particular sense if your GT sees regular road use rather than only occasional outings.
• Exhausts: an option if you want to change the K1200 GT's sound and appearance. On a touring bike, it is worth thinking about how that sound will feel over a full day's riding, not just during a short run. Mivv is among the accessory brands here.
• Stands and side-stand accessories: relevant when the bike is parked between trips or you are attending to routine care. A stable resting position can make a difference when you spend time working around a touring machine.
• Handlebar accessories: the position of your hands becomes more noticeable as the miles add up. Additions around the bars can help you shape the riding area around the posture you prefer for sustained road journeys.
• Covers: a straightforward way to keep dust off the K1200 GT while it is parked between rides. This is especially relevant if you use it for longer trips with stretches of downtime in between.

Mudguards and filters are also available for other aspects of riding and looking after the bike. Think about whether your GT is out most weekends or saved for longer journeys: the accessories you find most useful may differ.
