Accessories for the BMW K1200 RS

The BMW K1200 RS is a sports tourer suited to both winding roads and longer journeys. That combination shapes what is useful to fit: a day in the saddle raises different questions from a short ride, while stops and time spent parked matter too. For your K1200 RS, it is worth thinking about the ride itself and about looking after the bike between trips.

What riders usually fit to the BMW K1200 RS

The accessory types available for this bike cover riding, parking and routine upkeep. These are the ones that make particular sense for a machine used on the road:

• Protectors: useful when the same bike handles everyday journeys and trips away. They help shield parts of the K1200 RS from minor knocks and scuffs, including those that can happen while manoeuvring at low speed or stopping after a long ride.
• Stands and side-stand accessories: worth considering when you park up at the end of a ride or attend to the bike between journeys. For a sports tourer that may be used for anything from an afternoon out to several days away, parking is part of the routine.
• Handlebar accessories: your position at the bars matters when you spend hours covering ground, as well as when you turn into a series of bends. This is an area to consider in light of the routes you ride most often and the time you spend aboard.
• Covers and blankets: useful if the K1200 RS sits between outings. A cover helps keep the parked bike sheltered while it waits for the next trip, particularly when it cannot always be left under cover.
• Filters: relevant to routine maintenance when road miles add up. Keeping filter replacement in mind helps you plan work on the bike ahead of a longer journey rather than leaving it until you return.

Whether most of your riding is local or takes you further afield, start with the situations you encounter most: long spells at the bars, manoeuvring when you stop, or keeping the bike sheltered between rides.
