Accessories for the BMW K1300 GT

The BMW K1300 GT is a touring motorcycle suited to covering long distances, whether you ride alone or with a passenger. On trips like these, the time spent on the road is only part of the picture: parking stops, wet weather and hours in the saddle all influence which accessories are worth considering. Protecting the bike and making extended rides more comfortable are sensible places to start.

What riders usually fit to the BMW K1300 GT

Think about the roads you take, the length of your days and what happens when you park at your destination. The following types of accessory have a clear role on a bike used for touring:

• Protectors: useful for looking after exposed areas during slow manoeuvres, such as positioning the bike at a crowded stopping point or moving it around when you have packed for a trip.
• Stands and side-stand accessories: worth considering if your journeys involve frequent stops and you want a suitable way to support the bike while you take a break or attend to it at home.
• Handlebar accessories: relevant to the riding position on longer days. Where your hands and arms rest can become more noticeable after several hours on the road than during a short commute.
• Covers and blankets: a cover can be helpful when the K1300 GT is parked outdoors overnight on a trip or left between rides. Keep protection for the parked bike separate from anything intended to shield the rider from the cold.
• Mudguards: help reduce spray reaching parts of the bike on wet roads, especially when a long journey means carrying on through changeable weather.

Before setting off, consider both the distance you plan to ride and where the bike will be parked along the way. That makes it easier to prioritise riding comfort, protection or everyday practicality.
