Accessories for the BMW K 1300 S

The BMW K 1300 S sits firmly in sports-touring territory, suited to winding-road outings as well as trips that stretch over several days. How you divide your riding between those two uses helps determine what to fit. Long motorway stretches put wind protection high on the list, while touring with a pillion brings luggage into focus. For shorter, sportier rides, attention often turns to the controls and the bike's appearance.

What riders usually fit to the BMW K 1300 S

• Screens: help manage airflow around your upper body on open roads and motorways. For a K 1300 S used on longer trips, consider the coverage in your normal touring posture rather than judging a screen only from a tucked-in riding position.
• Protectors: are intended to limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike falls. Their usefulness is not confined to spirited riding: touring also involves manoeuvring with luggage and parking in unfamiliar places at each overnight stop.
• Levers: the way your fingers meet the brake and clutch matters on twisting roads and towards the end of a long day. When replacing the levers, their shape and reach from the grips deserve as much attention as their finish.
• Luggage: gives clothing and personal belongings a place on multi-day trips, reducing reliance on a backpack. When you tour with a pillion, carrying your belongings away from the passenger seat becomes particularly useful.
• Number plate holders: offer a way to change the appearance of the rear and emphasise the K 1300 S's sporting character. They suit an appearance-focused approach for weekend road rides, rather than a setup built primarily around carrying luggage.

For a mix of touring and Sunday rides, start with the things you notice throughout the journey: airflow, comfortable contact with the controls and somewhere to carry your essentials.
