Accessories for the BMW R 80 RT Monolever

The BMW R 80 RT Monolever is a touring motorcycle suited to covering distance on the road. That makes the way it feels over a long ride just as relevant as its response on a short outing. Winding roads, a passenger and luggage can all affect what you want from the bike. The accessories available here focus on two areas that matter in those situations: suspension and brakes. Rather than adding equipment for its own sake, it is worth thinking about the riding you actually do and where you would like the bike to feel different.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 80 RT Monolever

For this model, these are the two areas to consider when tailoring the bike to regular journeys and longer trips:

• Suspension: worth considering if you switch between riding alone and touring with a passenger or luggage. On a touring bike, the way it feels through a series of bends matters, but so does how settled it feels after several hours on the road. Suspension accessories give you a way to focus on the riding conditions you encounter most often. Öhlins is among the accessory brands available for this model.
• Brakes: particularly relevant if your rides include winding roads, long days out or a loaded bike. In those circumstances, braking is part of the rhythm of the journey, whether you are approaching another bend or adjusting to traffic. Brake accessories let you concentrate on the response you want in those moments. Braking is another of the brands listed for the BMW R 80 RT Monolever.

Think about where you most notice a difference between a short solo ride and a longer trip. That should help you decide whether suspension or brakes deserve your attention first, without losing sight of how you use this touring bike.
