Accessories for the BMW R 850 R Comfort

The BMW R 850 R Comfort is a roadster suited to everyday journeys as well as unhurried rides out of town. That mix of uses makes practical details worth thinking about: how easily you can keep an eye on traffic, what happens when you park in a tight space, and how the bike copes with a wet road. Rather than treating every ride the same, it helps to consider where you spend most of your time and what you need from the bike when you stop.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 850 R Comfort

• Mirrors: good rearward visibility matters when you are navigating junctions and lane changes on a daily commute. It is just as useful on an open-road ride, where checking what is behind you is part of preparing to overtake or move across the carriageway.
• Protection: protective parts make sense for a road bike that is regularly parked and manoeuvred at low speed. They can help limit the consequences of a knock in a crowded parking area or a tip-over while stationary, without changing what you use the R 850 R Comfort for.
• Stands and side stands: a suitable support is useful when you stop for a break on a longer ride or leave the bike between everyday trips. Those moments are easier when you can settle the motorcycle securely and take your time, particularly somewhere unfamiliar.
• Mudguards: if your rides do not end whenever the road is damp, these help contain spray thrown up by the wheel. That is a practical consideration for a roadster used for regular travel, not just occasional rides in dry weather.

Think about whether town journeys, open-road rides or both account for most of your riding. The accessories on this page are for the BMW R 850 R Comfort from 2003 to 2006.
