Accessories for the BMW R1150 RT

The BMW R1150 RT is a touring bike built for time on the road, from regular journeys to longer trips away. How you use it makes a difference to what is worth fitting: carrying luggage for a weekend with a pillion calls for something different from riding on your own every day. The most useful accessories support the way you travel, protect exposed areas and help you stay comfortable over many miles.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R1150 RT

For a bike with this kind of touring role, these accessories are worth considering according to the journeys you make:

• Protectors: help look after exposed parts of the bike during parking, slow manoeuvres and everyday riding. That is relevant on an RT that may be used regularly rather than kept only for occasional trips.
• Luggage cases: provide room for clothing and other essentials without asking you to wear a backpack for hours. They are particularly useful when a ride becomes a few days away, or when a pillion brings their own things along.
• Handlebar accessories: let you pay attention to the area around the controls and your riding position. On a long day in the saddle, the way you reach the bars matters more than it might on a short ride.
• Suspension: deserves consideration if your rides vary between solo outings and trips with luggage or a pillion. How the bike feels on the road matters when you are covering mile after mile in a day.
• Covers and blankets: are relevant if your RT spends time parked between rides or you continue riding in colder weather. Touring is not just about the miles covered; it also includes the stops and conditions around them.

Start with the journeys you make most often and what you carry. That will help you decide which accessories will earn their place on your BMW R1150 RT.
