Accessories for the BMW R 1150 GS

Long road journeys and trips that venture onto unpaved tracks are natural territory for the BMW R 1150 GS. This adventure bike suits riders who want to cover distance, carry luggage and sometimes take a pillion along. Those uses help set your accessory priorities: managing airflow matters on long stretches of road, while protection and secure footing deserve attention when your route leaves the tarmac.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1150 GS

• Screens: help reduce wind exposure during sustained road riding. For a GS used on full-day trips, consider where the screen directs airflow in relation to your seated position, as well as how its upper edge sits within your view of the road.
• Protectors: provide protection for exposed areas of the bike. Touring is not only about riding at speed: manoeuvring with luggage and stopping on uneven ground make a stationary drop worth considering when preparing your GS for a trip.
• Luggage cases: give you somewhere to carry your touring essentials without relying solely on a backpack. They are particularly useful for weekends away with a pillion, when packing needs to account for two people rather than just your own kit.
• Stands: support the bike when parked or out of use. On a travel-focused GS, that makes them relevant beyond the garage, especially when your days include luggage and regular stops on different surfaces along the route.
• Footrests: provide a foothold through bends and when standing up on tracks. If your GS journeys mix those riding positions, your feet's support becomes an important part of maintaining a comfortable stance throughout the day.

For mostly road-based touring, put wind protection and luggage first. If unpaved tracks are a regular part of your journeys, give protectors and rider contact points greater priority.
