Accessories for the BMW R 1200 GS Exclusive

The BMW R 1200 GS Exclusive is an adventure bike suited to touring, whether that means long road journeys or mixing tarmac with occasional tracks. Wind protection, riding position and protection for exposed areas are sensible priorities for this kind of use. The right balance depends on whether your trips involve mostly motorway miles, winding roads or time on unpaved routes.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1200 GS Exclusive

• Screens: On long motorway stretches, a screen helps manage the airflow reaching the rider. For a GS used on mixed routes, it is worth balancing wind coverage on faster roads with a clear view of the surface ahead on lanes and tracks.
• Guards and crash protection: Slow manoeuvres during a trip and riding over uneven ground make protection particularly relevant. These accessories help shield the areas they cover against knocks or falls, giving them a practical role on journeys that venture beyond tarmac.
• Footrests: Trips combining seated road riding with standing on tracks make foot support an important consideration. On this adventure bike, the footrest area matters both for comfort over longer distances and for support when changing your riding position off the road.
• Handlebar accessories: Hours spent on the road put the relationship between your hands and riding position into focus. Accessories in this area can help tailor the riding position for touring, while reach to the controls also matters when standing on tracks.
• Mobile phone mounts: Navigation becomes useful when a tour takes you along unfamiliar roads. A mount keeps directions visible, but its position on a travel-focused GS should leave the instruments unobstructed. Set up the route before moving rather than adjusting it while riding.

For predominantly road-based touring, start with wind protection and ergonomics. If unpaved tracks are a regular part of your journeys, give protective accessories greater priority.
