Accessories for the BMW R 1200 RS

The BMW R 1200 RS is a sports tourer suited to both winding roads and longer journeys. That mix puts wind protection, luggage and riding position ahead of purely cosmetic changes. Whether you ride solo for a weekend or take a pillion on holiday, the most useful accessories support the way you cover the miles without overlooking the practical side of touring.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1200 RS

• Screens: Motorway stretches often come before the quieter, twisting roads that make a trip worthwhile. A screen helps divert airflow away from your upper body, making wind protection a useful priority for an RS that regularly spends hours covering longer distances.
• Luggage: Cases give clothing and travel essentials a place on the bike rather than on your back. They become particularly useful on a two-up holiday, when you need room for both riders’ belongings rather than just enough kit for a solo day out.
• Protectors: Touring includes slow manoeuvres, parking and frequent stops as well as open roads. Protectors can help reduce damage to the areas they cover if the bike tips over while stationary, a practical consideration when handling the RS with luggage on board.
• Footrests: Your feet need a dependable resting point through bends and during long hours in the saddle. On the R 1200 RS, this contact point deserves attention because your riding position has to serve both winding-road outings and full days of touring.
• Phone mounts: A mount is useful when your phone handles navigation on an unfamiliar weekend route. It holds the device on the bike, so you do not have to keep taking it out of a pocket at each stop to check your next destination.
