BMW R 1250 GS accessories for touring and trail riding

The BMW R 1250 GS is an adventure bike suited to long tours, weekend road rides and routes that venture onto unpaved tracks. What you fit depends on how those miles add up: two-up holidays put luggage first, motorway stretches make wind protection worthwhile, and riding off the tarmac brings protection and standing comfort into focus.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1250 GS

• Panniers: carry clothing and essentials for several days without keeping the load on your back. When touring with a pillion, separate luggage space makes it easier to organise both riders' belongings and keep items for roadside stops accessible.
• Screens: help reduce wind exposure during motorway journeys and full days on the road. For a GS used on mixed routes, wind coverage needs to work alongside a clear view ahead when the road narrows or turns into a track.
• Protectors and crash bars: help shield the areas they cover from knocks and low-speed falls. They are particularly relevant when your touring route includes loose surfaces or you need to manoeuvre a loaded bike in an unpaved parking area.
• Footrests: provide support for your boots whether you are seated on the road or standing on a trail. If your GS sees both kinds of riding, consider how you use your feet in each position rather than focusing solely on seated comfort.
• Phone mounts: keep navigation visible on unfamiliar touring routes. Position matters: you need to see directions from your riding posture without obscuring the instruments, and route changes are best made while stopped.

BMW R 1250 GS versions: 2018 and 2019-2024

The R 1250 GS has changed over the years, and the 2018 and 2019-2024 versions do not share every accessory. Panniers and exhausts, for example, should not be assumed to fit both. Choose your bike's year on this page to see only the accessories that fit your GS.
