Accessories for the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure

Long motorway stretches, winding back roads and occasional trails place different demands on a BMW R 1250 GS Adventure. This adventure touring bike is commonly used for longer journeys, where luggage space and shelter from the wind matter day after day. Add unpaved routes to the itinerary and protection, foot support and a comfortable standing position become just as relevant.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure

• Panniers: A practical choice for carrying clothing and essentials on multi-day trips. Travelling with a pillion makes luggage organisation especially important, while routes that include trails also make the overall width of the loaded bike worth considering.
• Screens: Wind protection deserves attention when your journey involves lengthy motorway links between more interesting roads. On the GS Adventure, screen height needs to work with your seated position and your height, rather than simply providing the largest possible barrier.
• Protectors and crash bars: These make particular sense for trail riding and low-speed manoeuvres with luggage aboard. They are intended to help limit damage to the areas they cover during scrapes or tip-overs, rather than prevent every consequence of a fall.
• Footpegs: Your feet need support through long seated road sections and when standing on loose-surface tracks. For this mix of touring and trail use, foot position and how the pegs work with your riding boots deserve attention.
• Handlebar accessories: The relationship between your hands, feet and upper body matters when switching between seated and standing riding. Adjusting this area can help you find a position that suits both long road days and the stretches you tackle standing up.

For predominantly tarmac journeys, luggage and wind protection are sensible starting points. If trails are a regular part of your trips, give protection and your riding position equal attention rather than treating them as finishing touches.
