Accessories for the BMW R 1250 GS Rallye

The BMW R 1250 GS Rallye is an adventure bike suited to long road journeys and exploring trails. That combination puts luggage, wind protection and rider support high on the list when choosing accessories. Your priorities will depend on how much time you spend covering motorway miles, riding unpaved routes or carrying a pillion for a weekend away.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1250 GS Rallye

• Panniers: carrying clothes and touring essentials on the bike rather than in a rucksack makes sense for longer GS Rallye trips. When travelling with a pillion, allow for both riders’ luggage and think about how you will distribute it, rather than simply adding more capacity.
• Screens: wind protection matters more during a long motorway stretch than on a short trail ride. A screen helps tailor coverage to your riding position, making it a useful consideration when your routes involve several hours on the road between overnight stops.
• Protectors and crash bars: uneven trail surfaces and low-speed tumbles give protection a different role from cosmetic accessories. On a GS Rallye that regularly leaves the tarmac, focus on the areas you want to shield from knocks and scrapes rather than appearance alone.
• Footrests: standing on the pegs during trail riding places different demands on boot support from sitting through a daily commute. For this kind of adventure riding, consider your footing on unpaved sections alongside comfort during the road miles that connect them.
• Phone mounts: keeping navigation in view is useful when a touring route links unfamiliar back roads and trails. Positioning matters on these mixed journeys: the phone should be easy to glance at without obscuring the instruments or getting in the way of the handlebars.
