Accessories for the BMW R 1300 GS Option 719 Tramontana

The BMW R 1300 GS Option 719 Tramontana is an adventure bike suited to road touring and exploring away from the tarmac. That mix of riding calls for different priorities: luggage for nights away, wind protection for longer road stretches and comfortable contact points when switching between sitting and standing. A bike used mainly for two-up touring will benefit from a different setup to one regularly taken along unpaved tracks.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1300 GS Option 719 Tramontana

• Windscreens: wind exposure becomes more noticeable during long motorway links between the interesting parts of a tour. A screen helps manage airflow around your upper body. On this GS, balance coverage with your height and forward view, particularly when your route also includes tracks.
• Panniers: useful for separating clothing and other essentials on multi-day journeys, especially with a pillion's luggage to carry as well. If your GS also handles the daily commute, consider how the extra carrying space affects overall width when filtering or squeezing into a parking space.
• Protectors and crash bars: worth prioritising for unpaved routes and low-speed manoeuvres with a loaded bike. They help limit damage to the areas they cover during knocks or falls. Different pieces protect different parts, so think about the protection your intended riding calls for.
• Footpegs: foot support matters both when seated for hours on the road and when standing on the pegs along a track. Their shape and supporting surface influence boot placement and how you move between those positions during a mixed-surface ride.
• Levers: shape and reach affect where your fingers rest when braking or using the clutch. For a GS spending time on winding roads as well as in stop-start traffic, the relationship between your hands, the controls and your riding position deserves attention.
