Accessories for the BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black

The BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black is an adventure bike suited to long road journeys and exploring unpaved routes. That mix puts wind protection, luggage and rider support ahead of purely cosmetic changes. What you fit depends on how you spend your miles: motorway links, winding roads and stretches ridden standing on the pegs each place different demands on your setup.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1300 GS Triple Black

A road-focused touring setup will have different priorities from one used regularly on trails. These five accessory types address the riding situations you are likely to encounter on a GS:

• Windscreens: Long motorway stretches make airflow a priority. A screen helps divert wind away from your upper body, while its height matters for keeping a clear view of the road from your usual seated riding position.
• Footpegs: When you stand up on unpaved tracks, the pegs become an important point of support. Their shape and position also matter on tarmac, where your legs stay in the same riding position for longer periods.
• Levers: Winding roads and slow manoeuvres with a loaded GS call for careful use of the controls. Lever shape and reach are worth considering for a comfortable point of contact, especially when wearing your touring gloves for hours.
• Crash protectors and bars: For touring that includes unpaved roads, these can help reduce damage in a low-speed fall. They also make sense when manoeuvring a loaded bike around a car park or stopping on uneven ground.
• Panniers: Touring luggage lets you organise belongings for overnight trips, keeping daytime essentials separate from items you only need at your destination. When travelling with a pillion, sharing the available space and distributing the load become particularly important.
