Accessories for the BMW R 1300 RS

The BMW R 1300 RS brings a sporting approach to road touring, so its accessories need to suit more than one kind of ride. A morning on winding roads puts the focus on your riding position and the controls, while a longer trip makes wind protection and luggage more important. Useful additions support the balance you want between enjoying the bends and covering distance comfortably.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 1300 RS

• Screens: wind protection becomes more valuable during motorway stretches and full days on the road. For the R 1300 RS, the aim is to balance shelter for your upper body with a clear view ahead from your usual riding position.
• Panniers: carrying clothes and overnight essentials on the bike rather than your back suits its touring role. Luggage space is particularly useful for weekends away with a pillion, when two people's belongings need to share the available room.
• Levers: their shape and reach affect how your fingers meet the controls. On a sports tourer, a comfortable hand position matters both when braking repeatedly on a twisting route and when spending several hours riding between destinations.
• Footrests: support under your feet contributes to the balance between an involved riding position and long-distance comfort. They deserve attention when a ride combines active movement through bends with extended periods in the saddle, where leg position becomes more noticeable.
• Protectors: these can help limit damage from minor falls, making them a practical addition rather than simply a styling choice. Manoeuvring into parking spaces or stopping with luggage aboard are everyday touring situations where that extra protection can earn its place.
