Accessories for the BMW R 18

The BMW R 18 is a classic-style cruiser for unhurried rides, from a short weekend loop to a few days away. What you fit should reflect how you use it. Regular motorway miles make wind protection more useful, while shorter outings may put more emphasis on a clean silhouette and carefully chosen styling details.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R 18

• Screens: on longer road rides and motorway stretches, a screen helps take wind pressure off your upper body. For an R 18 used for leisurely outings, the aim is to balance that extra shelter with how much the screen changes its classic outline.
• Protection: worth considering when weekend rides also involve frequent parking and low-speed manoeuvres around town. Protective accessories help limit damage to the areas they cover in a low-speed fall. On a cruiser build, their visual impact matters alongside the coverage they provide.
• Mirrors: a prominent part of a custom bike's appearance, but not simply a styling choice. On your R 18, a useful rearward view lets you monitor traffic before changing lanes without having to shift away from your normal riding position.
• Bodywork and styling: useful when giving the R 18 an individual look takes priority over preparing it for touring. A consistent approach to shapes and finishes keeps the result in tune with its classic character, rather than letting separate details compete for attention.
• Luggage: when an afternoon ride becomes a few days away, luggage provides room for what you need on the trip. For the R 18, matching carrying capacity to your actual packing needs helps avoid unnecessary bulk when you return to shorter weekend rides.
