Accessories for the BMW R850C

The BMW R850C is a custom motorcycle that lends itself to unhurried rides. It is just as easy to picture it on a leisurely road trip as on a shorter journey across town. That mix of riding and stopping shapes which accessories are worth considering: a clear view of what is behind you, protection for everyday mishaps and a practical way to leave the bike parked. This page brings together accessories for the 1998–2001 R850C with those uses in mind.

What riders usually fit to the BMW R850C

With a custom bike, the details you see while walking up to it matter, but so do the small practicalities of each ride. These are the accessory types most relevant to how the R850C is commonly used, whether you are heading out for the afternoon or making a few stops locally.

• Mirrors: they contribute to the R850C's overall look while serving a job you rely on throughout the ride. A useful view of traffic behind you is particularly welcome when joining a road or navigating town streets.
• Protectors: these are worth considering for exposed areas when parking manoeuvres or a low-speed tumble are on your mind. They make sense for a bike that may spend as much time stopping along a relaxed route as it does covering the miles between stops.
• Stands and side stands: where and how you park becomes part of the day when a ride includes several breaks. A suitable support can also make routine tasks easier while the R850C is stationary.

Puig is among the accessory brands represented for this BMW. Think about the journeys you actually make: a weekend ride with frequent stops calls for a slightly different emphasis from daily town use, even when both make good mirrors, protection and parking arrangements worthwhile.
