Accessories for the BMW S 1000 XR

The BMW S 1000 XR brings a sporting approach to road touring, making it equally at home on winding weekend routes and longer trips. That mix gives accessories a clear purpose: managing wind exposure, carrying luggage and keeping you comfortable over a full day. Your priorities will depend on whether the XR spends more time touring, tackling favourite roads or handling everyday journeys.

What riders usually fit to the BMW S 1000 XR

• Screens: long motorway stretches between the interesting roads make wind protection worth considering. A screen helps manage airflow around the rider, particularly on an XR used for full days out rather than mainly short local journeys.
• Crash bungs and bars: these help limit damage to the areas they protect in a stationary drop or low-speed fall. They make particular sense for touring riders manoeuvring with luggage in unfamiliar car parks and accommodation entrances.
• Luggage: carrying clothes and overnight essentials on the bike keeps the load off your back. For trips with a pillion, think about luggage space alongside the room your passenger needs, rather than treating carrying capacity as the only priority.
• Footrests: foot support matters when linking bends, but also when holding a riding position for hours. On an XR that combines spirited road riding with touring, this is an area where comfort deserves as much attention as the feel of the controls.
• Phone mounts: a mount holds your phone when you use it for navigation. It is a useful addition for following unfamiliar back-road routes or finding your overnight stop, instead of keeping the device tucked away in a pocket.

Choosing parts for the 2015-2019 and 2020-2026 versions

The S 1000 XR has changed over the years, so the 2015-2019 and 2020-2026 versions do not always take the same parts. Screens, crash protection and footrests are examples that can differ between them. Choose your bike’s year on this page to see only the accessories that fit your version.
