Accessories for the Ducati 1198

The Ducati 1198 is a sports bike suited to twisty roads and track days, where riding position and contact with the controls shape your accessory choices. Rather than making luggage capacity the priority, it makes sense to focus on airflow, levers and protection. Appearance matters too, but a road-going 1198 and one used mainly on track will not necessarily need the same finishing touches.

What riders usually fit to the Ducati 1198

• Screens: useful for managing airflow on road rides and providing shelter when you tuck down over the tank on track. The screen's shape matters because your head and upper body move between a tucked position and a more upright stance.
• Levers: brake and clutch operation should feel natural when your upper body is leaning forwards. On the 1198, lever shape and reach are worth considering for the repeated use of the controls during a winding road ride or track session.
• Protectors: intended to help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike falls over or suffers a low-speed slide. They are a practical consideration for a faired sports bike used on the road as well as at track days.
• Fasteners: maintaining a faired sports bike can involve removing and refitting exterior panels. Replacement fasteners help address missing or worn fixings and keep the finish tidy, particularly when your 1198 alternates between road outings and preparation for track use.
• Tail tidies: a styling choice for road-going 1198s, giving the number plate area a cleaner appearance. Their role is to make the rear end look neater while retaining a place for the plate required for road use.

For mixed road and track riding, put comfortable control operation and suitable wind protection first. Cosmetic changes can follow once the bike's accessories suit how you spend your time in the saddle.
