Accessories for the Ducati 1198 S

The Ducati 1198 S is a sports bike suited to winding roads and track days. Those two uses call for slightly different priorities: wind protection and riding position matter over a longer road ride, while control and protection take centre stage on track. How you spend most of your time on the bike is a useful starting point for choosing accessories.

What riders usually fit to the Ducati 1198 S

• Screens: On open roads, a screen helps manage airflow around the rider; on track, the focus shifts towards shelter when tucked in. For the 1198 S, consider how the screen shape works with both your normal road position and a lower crouch over the tank.
• Levers: Comfortable contact with the controls matters through a sequence of bends or repeated laps. When choosing levers for your 1198 S, the shape and reach should suit your hands in the gloves you actually wear for road rides or track sessions.
• Protectors: These deserve particular attention on a track-day 1198 S, where a fall can bring the day's riding to an early end. Their purpose is to help limit damage to the areas they cover, making protection a more useful starting point than cosmetic changes for track preparation.
• Handlebars: Hand position makes a difference to how comfortable a sports bike feels over a longer ride. If your Ducati spends more time on the road than the circuit, changes around the bars should reflect your sustained riding posture rather than simply chasing a race-bike look.
• Tail tidies: A tail tidy can give the rear of a road-going 1198 S a cleaner appearance. This is primarily a styling choice, so it makes sense once you have addressed the riding position, wind protection and controls that affect your time in the saddle.
