Accessories for the Ducati 848

The Ducati 848 puts the emphasis on sports riding, whether your usual outing takes in winding roads or a session on track. That makes your position on the bike, your footing and your reach to the controls useful starting points when choosing accessories. Rather than focusing on carrying capacity, it makes sense to consider wind protection, contact points and protection for exposed areas before moving on to cosmetic changes.

What riders usually fit to the Ducati 848

• Screens: help manage airflow on road rides and when you tuck in over the tank on track. On the 848, screen height and shape are worth considering in relation to your riding position, rather than appearance alone.
• Levers: shape and reach affect how your fingers meet the brake and clutch controls. A comfortable reach matters when working through a series of bends, but also during town riding with frequent clutch use and repeated stops.
• Protectors: can help limit damage to the areas they cover if the bike goes down. For an 848 used on track days, protection deserves attention before purely cosmetic additions, while recognising that no protector can prevent every kind of damage.
• Footrests: provide support for your boots as you shift your body through corners. They are worth considering when refining your footing for sports riding, with access to the gear lever and rear brake remaining part of the decision.
• Number plate holders: offer a way to tidy up the rear and complement the 848’s sporting appearance. For a bike that still sees road use between track days, the plate needs to remain properly positioned and clearly visible.

For mixed road and track use, sort out your contact points and protection first. Leave cosmetic details until you are comfortable with how you sit and move on the bike.
