Accessories for the Ducati Monster 890

The Ducati Monster 890’s naked-bike character lends itself to weekday journeys and weekend rides on winding roads. Those two uses call for slightly different priorities: a comfortable reach to the controls matters in stop-start traffic, while wind exposure and riding position become more noticeable on longer outings. The most useful accessories address how you ride, rather than simply changing how the bike looks.

What riders usually fit to the Ducati Monster 890

• Screens: a screen helps deflect some of the airflow reaching your upper body. It makes particular sense if getting to your favourite roads involves a stretch of motorway, or if your Monster regularly covers more than short journeys across town.
• Protectors and crash protection: these aim to reduce certain types of damage from a fall or low-speed knock. For a Monster used every day, parking manoeuvres and moving through tight spaces are just as relevant as what happens on a weekend ride.
• Handlebars and levers: handlebar choice influences arm reach and wrist position, while levers shape your contact with the controls. Frequent lever use in urban traffic makes this area worth considering before purely cosmetic changes, particularly if commuting is your main use.
• Footrests: your feet form another important point of support on the Monster. Their position matters when shifting your posture through a sequence of bends, but also affects how your legs sit during a longer journey or the daily ride home.
• Mirrors and number plate holders: these offer ways to alter the appearance of the handlebar area and rear end. Mirrors also have a practical role in busy traffic, so a cleaner silhouette should not come at the expense of a useful rearward view.

Consider handlebars, levers and mirrors together. Changing where your hands sit can also affect your reach to the controls and the adjustment needed for a clear view behind.
