Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy

The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is a custom bike made for unhurried riding, whether you are crossing town or heading out onto open roads. On this sort of motorcycle, your position at the bars, your view behind and the way the suspension responds all shape the ride. That makes the most useful accessories a question of how you spend your time on the Fat Boy: weaving through everyday traffic places different demands on you from settling into a longer, easy-paced trip.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy

• Indicators: they affect the bike’s appearance, but their job matters most when you are turning through busy junctions or pulling out onto a main road. On a Fat Boy used around town as well as for weekend rides, clear signalling is worth keeping in mind alongside the look you want.
• Handlebars: your reach to the bars helps determine where your arms and back settle on a custom motorcycle. If you spend long stretches riding the Fat Boy, a position that feels natural can make those steady miles more enjoyable than one that leaves you stretching or hunching.
• Mirrors: they give you a view of approaching traffic when changing lanes or moving between cars. Because they also sit prominently on this bike, think about what you can actually see from your riding position rather than judging them on their appearance alone.
• Suspension: it becomes particularly relevant when your rides take in uneven city streets and longer roads. How the bike responds to bumps, and how settled it feels through bends, can make a difference once you have been in the saddle for a while.

Each of these accessories addresses a different part of riding the Fat Boy. Your usual journeys are a useful starting point for deciding whether to focus first on posture, visibility or the feel of the ride.
