Accessories for the Harley-Davidson FLHT 1340 Electra Glide

The Harley-Davidson FLHT 1340 Electra Glide is a touring motorcycle suited to unhurried days on the road and longer journeys. On a bike used this way, suspension matters not only for comfort after hours in the saddle but also for how composed the ride feels with luggage or a passenger. That makes the way you travel a useful starting point when considering what to fit: a brief ride close to home places different demands on the bike from a full day on varied roads.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson FLHT 1340 Electra Glide

Suspension accessories are available for this Electra Glide, including options from Öhlins. They are particularly relevant if your riding ranges from solo outings to trips with a passenger, or from smooth main roads to rougher stretches of tarmac.

• Suspension: on the FLHT 1340 Electra Glide, the aim is a comfortable, predictable ride over touring distances. Carrying luggage or a passenger changes what you notice over uneven surfaces and through bends, especially after several hours on the move. Suspension components are therefore worth considering in terms of the journeys you actually make, rather than judging the bike solely by how it feels on a short run.

Think about the conditions that make up a typical journey on your Electra Glide. Steady motorway miles, winding country roads and a trip with packed luggage each put the emphasis in a different place. Keeping those situations in mind gives you a more useful way to assess suspension accessories for your bike, with attention to comfort and control throughout the ride rather than to one stretch of road.
