Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Nightster

The Harley-Davidson Nightster is a custom bike at home on everyday journeys as well as unhurried rides out of town. Those two sides of its character call for different accessories: protection for frequent stops and tight spaces, details that suit its pared-back look, and somewhere to put your things when a short ride turns into a weekend away. What is worth fitting depends less on a single ideal set-up than on where you take the bike most often.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Nightster

For the Nightster, these accessories address the practical details of riding and parking a custom bike while leaving room to make it your own:

• Protectors: worth considering if the Nightster sees regular use around town and you want to look after areas exposed to everyday scuffs. They add a measure of protection without making the bike feel set up for a long-distance expedition.
• Crash protection: useful when you are parking or manoeuvring in confined spaces, where a low-speed mishap can be especially frustrating. Unlike protection for a particular surface, these parts are intended to offer a measure of defence in a tip-over.
• Lighting: offers a way to shape the Nightster’s appearance while keeping in mind rides that begin in daylight and end after dark. It is a particularly relevant area if the bike covers both city streets and evening journeys.
• Mirrors: make a noticeable difference to the outline of a custom bike, but the view behind matters just as much. If your regular route includes busy traffic, think about how easily you can check what is alongside you.
• Luggage: makes a weekend ride easier when you need more than your jacket pockets can carry. On the Nightster, it can give an occasional trip a practical boost without making luggage part of every ride.

If you split your time between town and open roads, start with the moments you encounter most often: parking, riding in traffic or carrying kit away for the weekend. That gives you a useful way to decide what belongs on your Nightster.
