Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Softail Cross Bones FLSTSB

The Harley-Davidson Softail Cross Bones FLSTSB is a custom bike made for unhurried rides on the road. The pleasure is as much in the journey and the stops along the way as in reaching a destination. That makes it worth thinking about two less glamorous parts of riding: moving the bike at low speed and leaving it parked afterwards. Accessories that address those moments can be more useful here than adding equipment simply for the sake of it.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Softail Cross Bones FLSTSB

The accessories available for this Softail focus on protection and on supporting the bike while it is stationary. Both are relevant whether you take it out for a short ride or spend time looking after it between outings. The distinction is when each accessory earns its place: one comes into its own around everyday manoeuvres, while the other matters when the engine is off and the ride is over.

• Protectors: worth considering for the slow manoeuvres that come with setting off, pulling into a parking space or stopping along a ride. Depending on the protector, they are intended to help shield parts of the Cross Bones from particular knocks or scrapes. They cannot prevent a mishap, but they offer an additional measure of protection where a custom bike is being handled rather than enjoyed on an open road.
• Stands and side stands: relevant when the Cross Bones is parked after a ride or positioned for care between trips. The purpose depends on the particular part: supporting the bike while stationary or making certain jobs easier to carry out. If looking after your bike is part of the pleasure of owning it, this group deserves attention alongside protection for time spent riding.

Puig is among the accessory brands available for this model. Think about whether your priority is the time spent manoeuvring the bike or the time it spends at rest; that is a useful way to approach these two groups.
