Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider FXLR

The Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider FXLR is a cruiser suited to relaxed road rides, weekend trips and getting around town. What you fit depends on how those miles add up: riding position and rearward visibility matter on shorter journeys, while wind protection and luggage become more useful when you head further afield. The aim is to make the bike work for your riding without losing the custom look that draws you to it.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Softail Low Rider FXLR

• Screens: motorway stretches can make wind pressure more noticeable on an open cruiser. A screen helps divert airflow away from your upper body, making it a worthwhile consideration for longer outings. On the Low Rider, the balance is between useful coverage and keeping the front end visually uncluttered.
• Crash bars: parking, turning at walking pace and stopping around town are part of cruiser ownership too. Crash bars help shield exposed areas if the bike tips over at a standstill, making them relevant even when your usual riding is unhurried road touring.
• Handlebars: bar choice affects your reach and the position of your wrists, arms and back. For relaxed miles on the FXLR, consider where your hands naturally sit rather than choosing solely for appearance; an awkward reach becomes more noticeable over a full afternoon.
• Luggage: cases give you somewhere to put clothing and personal belongings for a weekend away without wearing a backpack. They are particularly useful when riding with a pillion, when two people's essentials need to share the available carrying space.
• Mirrors: these contribute to the Low Rider's custom styling, but the view from your normal riding position matters just as much. For town traffic and joining faster roads, aim for a useful rearward view rather than one largely filled by your own arms.
