Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster

The Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster is a custom bike that lends itself to both everyday journeys and unhurried rides on the open road. Those journeys put different things in focus: stopping regularly in town, slowing for bends on a weekend ride, and enjoying the bike’s sound along the way. That makes your usual riding more useful than a checklist of upgrades when deciding what to fit. The accessories here concentrate on two areas you will notice in quite different ways.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster

Brakes make sense if your Roadster regularly takes you through traffic or along winding roads. Exhausts are more about the soundtrack to those rides. Think about where you spend most of your time on the bike before deciding which matters more to you.

• Brakes: town riding can mean repeated stops for junctions, lights and changing traffic. On a country-road ride, braking becomes part of setting your pace before a bend or a village. Brake parts are therefore relevant whether the Sportster 1200 Roadster is your regular way across town or a bike you take out when you have time to enjoy the road.
• Exhausts: the sound of a Harley-Davidson is part of the appeal for many riders, particularly on relaxed rides where the journey matters as much as the destination. An exhaust lets you focus on that side of the Roadster’s character. If you also use the bike around town, consider how your chosen sound will suit those journeys, and check the approval requirements for the particular part.

For a bike that sees both weekday traffic and weekend miles, it helps to start with the journeys you actually make, rather than the ones you only have in mind.
