Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Seventy-Two XL1200V

The Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Seventy-Two XL1200V is a custom bike for unhurried rides, whether you are crossing town or heading out on the open road. How you use it helps determine what is worth fitting. Everyday protection matters if you ride regularly, while luggage becomes more useful when a short outing turns into a weekend away.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Seventy-Two XL1200V

There is no need to prepare every Seventy-Two for the same sort of journey. Think about the rides you actually make, including where you park, what you carry and whether you are often still on the road after dark. These accessory types address different parts of that routine:

• Protectors: help shield parts of the bike exposed to everyday wear. They make sense when your Sportster sees regular use around town as well as more relaxed rides at the weekend.
• Lighting: is worth considering if an afternoon ride often finishes after sunset. It is particularly relevant when your route takes you from quieter roads back through built-up areas at the end of the day.
• Luggage: gives you somewhere to carry a spare layer, personal items or what you need for a night away, rather than wearing a rucksack throughout the ride. It makes spontaneous longer trips more practical without changing the reason you enjoy this custom.
• Crash bars and sliders: offer additional protection during slow manoeuvres and parking. They are a useful consideration if you regularly navigate tight spaces before getting out onto clearer roads.

For a 2012–2016 Seventy-Two XL1200V, let your usual journeys guide the choice. A bike used mainly for short rides may call for a different balance of protection and carrying space from one you take away for the weekend.
