Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200R XR1200

The Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200R XR1200 is a road-focused bike with a sporty character. It lends itself to everyday rides as well as time spent on winding roads. That makes the choice of accessories rather different from preparing a bike for long-distance touring: protection, suspension and keeping road spray down are more relevant here than adding luggage you may never use.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200R XR1200

For this model from 2008 to 2010, it is worth thinking about where you ride most and what you would like to change about the experience:

• Protectors: if your XR1200 sees regular road use, these help look after the areas they are designed to cover against scuffs and minor knocks. They are a practical addition for a bike that is ridden often, whether that means weekday journeys or a run out on a twisty road.
• Suspension: riders who pay close attention to the bike's response under braking and through a series of bends may want to focus here. Suspension parts, including options from Öhlins, are relevant when the aim is to refine how the bike feels on the road rather than equip it for a different sort of journey.
• Mudguards: road spray becomes more noticeable when a dry ride turns wet or the route includes damp streets. A mudguard helps limit the water and grime thrown up by the wheel, making it a useful choice if you ride the XR1200 beyond fair-weather outings.

Start with the part of your riding that matters most. Regular use may make protection the priority; winding roads put the focus on suspension, while year-round journeys make spray control easier to appreciate.
