Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight Special XL1200XS

The Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight Special XL1200XS is a custom bike suited to city journeys and rides out on the open road. Those two settings can call for different accessories. You may want a little less wind on a longer ride, protection when handling the bike in tight spaces, or a finishing detail that sits comfortably with its custom look. This page brings together accessories for the 2018 to 2020 model years.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight Special XL1200XS

• Screens: Wind becomes more noticeable once a ride takes you beyond town and onto faster roads. A screen can deflect some of the air reaching the rider, making it worth considering if you regularly extend your trips.
• Protectors: Parking, moving the bike around and negotiating narrow spaces are all part of everyday riding. Protectors are intended for vulnerable areas and can make particular sense when you use the Forty-Eight Special for both short journeys and weekend rides.
• Stands and side stands: A secure place to rest the bike matters when you are cleaning it or carrying out routine upkeep at home. This category is also relevant if your journeys involve frequent stops and parking.
• Mudguards: On a custom bike, a mudguard contributes to the overall look as well as helping to contain spray from a wet road. It is worth a look if you ride the Sportster when the weather is less than ideal.

Think about where the bike spends most of its time. Road miles make wind protection more relevant, while protectors and support for parking or upkeep have a role even when your rides are mostly local. Focusing on those uses helps you choose additions that suit the way you ride your Forty-Eight Special.
