Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight XL1200X

The Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight XL1200X is a custom bike suited to unhurried rides, whether you are heading across town or taking the longer way along a country road. What you fit depends on how you spend your time in the saddle. A screen may matter more when you regularly ride at road speeds, while luggage comes into its own when a short ride turns into a weekend away. It is worth thinking about those different journeys before deciding what your bike needs.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight XL1200X

• Screens: help take some of the wind off you on open roads. They make particular sense if your relaxed rides often include a longer stretch between towns, rather than just short trips through the city.
• Guards: offer protection for parts of the bike if it is knocked while parking or goes down at low speed. They are worth considering when your rides involve frequent stops and everyday manoeuvres.
• Suspension: gives you a way to focus on how the Forty-Eight responds over uneven tarmac and through bends. It is an area to explore if the feel of the bike on your usual roads matters more to you than carrying extra kit.
• Panniers: provide room for clothes and essentials when you want to stay out overnight. That extra carrying space makes a weekend ride easier to plan without relying solely on what you can carry on your person.
• Stands and side stands: can make parking or looking after the bike at home more convenient. Their usefulness is not limited to long-distance riding; they can matter just as much when the bike mainly comes out for shorter outings.
