Accessories for the Harley-Davidson Sportster XR1200

The Harley-Davidson Sportster XR1200 is a sporty roadster with an appeal that goes beyond a quick ride around town. It suits riders who enjoy winding roads but still want to use and look after their bike regularly. That makes protection, riding feel and the practicalities of keeping the bike at home more relevant than touring luggage. The accessories here are for XR1200s from 2008 to 2010.

What riders usually fit to the Harley-Davidson Sportster XR1200

The XR1200 lends itself to a focused approach. Rather than adding equipment for every possible journey, it makes sense to look at parts that support the way you ride it and the attention it needs between rides:

• Protectors: worth considering when a bike is ridden on twisting roads and handled regularly in car parks or at home. They let you think about the areas you want to safeguard while keeping the XR1200’s purposeful roadster character in mind.
• Stands and side stands: useful when the bike is stationary and you are making time for cleaning or routine checks. If your XR1200 comes out for weekend rides as well as shorter trips, a suitable support can make those moments in the garage less awkward.
• Suspension: a natural area to explore if the enjoyment of riding is your main reason for owning an XR1200. On a winding road, the bike’s response to uneven surfaces and changes of direction is part of what you notice from the saddle.
• Filters: belong in the conversation when you are keeping a frequently ridden bike in good order. They are relevant whether your XR1200 spends its time on local roads, in town, or covering longer stretches between stops.

How you spend time with your Sportster XR1200 is a useful starting point: a spirited Sunday ride, everyday journeys and routine care each put different demands on the bike. Prioritising those demands keeps the choice of accessories grounded in how you actually ride.
